826 St. Louis is a fictional tutoring center inspired by the nonprofit organization 826 National. 826 St. Louis focuses on the power of imagination, encouraging students to use their “mind’s eye” through their literacy journey. I was tasked with designing the brand of the 826 St. Louis storefront: Mind’s Eye Supply. Mind’s Eye Supply preps daydreamers for their imaginative journeys. A place where fun meets wacky, and curiosity meets wonder, Mind’s Eye Supply supplies visionaries with tools to dive into any world their mind wanders to.
St. Louis has a rich history of exploration and innovation. Exploration and imagination became the theme of the brand. Imagination is fun, wacky, and wonderful. I kept this in mind while brainstorming, pun-making, and word-mashing. The wordmark stems from the Gateway Arch, while the cityscape of St. Louis inspired the colors.
After many iterations, I enjoyed making and surprising myself with patterns and assets to use for the brand. This project taught me to fail fast and trust the process.
